1. Practical Boatbuilding (Full Time) Provided by International Boatbuilding Training College All students begin in the Joinery workshop where they will learn fundamental woodworking skills. After approximately 12 weeks students move on to the boat shed where they will work in a real boatyard environment. Students will learn to interpret the designers' drawings, loft the boat and make moulds, construct and set up a backbone, steam timber and make frames, plank up in carvel and clinker, lay decks, make spars and fit out the hull. In short a student at the end of the course should be able to build a boat. Successful Completions of this course results in a City & Guilds 2463-03 (formerly 2451) Boatbuilding Maintenance and Support, Level 3. Qualification |

Abrasive Wheels - Appointed Persons Provided by The Professional Training Centre (PTC) A requirement of proprietors is to ensure that one or more people are identified within each establishment to receive proper instruction on all aspects of safety in relation to Abrasive Wheels. This will include the mounting, dressing and adjustment of abrasive wheels which will enable these persons to be able to perform the necessary duties within a workshop. |
