Careers and Employability Advice, Skills and Qualifications (Work Club)

If you are a Job Centre Plus customer who has been unemployed for 6 months or more we can support you back into employment by giving you free impartial advice, relevant work-related courses and help with CV creation/job search. Ask your Job Centre Plus advisor to contact Keith Clements for a referral.

C&G 3792 Adult Literacy/Numeracy Level 1 and Level 2 at THE KIRKLEY CENTRE, LOWESTOFT

Point 1 Learning will shortly be offering sessions at the Kirkley Centre in South Lowestoft for students to brush up on their Literacy and Numeracy and take the City and guilds 3792 National Test qualification. Courses will be between 9am-1pm on a Tuesday (drop-in basis, min 2 hours per week) and last for up to 15 weeks. For funded students this course is FREE. City and Guilds 3792 Adult Numeracy (Level 1/Level 2)

Joining the adult Numeracy course at Point 1 Learning is a good way to improve your skills and gain a valuable recognised qualification up to GCSE A* equivalent level. This online course is essential if you are seeking new employment, simply progressing in a chosen career, or if you wish to brush up on Maths usage before going onto further education. Learning in a relaxed environment you will be supported by our friendly team.

ECDL Part 1 (ECDL Essentials)

ECDL is a Europe-wide qualification that enables people to gain a basic qualification in computing and to help them with their current job, develop their IT skills and enhance their career prospects. ECDL will enable people to demonstrate their competence in computer skills. It covers the key concepts of computing and its major applications and their use in the workplace and society. This Level 1 modular programme includes: • IT Security for Users • Using the Computer and Managing Files / IT User Fundamentals • Web Browsing and Communication / Using the Internet & Email

ECDL Part 2 (ECDL Extra)

ECDL is a Europe-wide qualification that enables people to gain a basic qualification in computing and to help them with their current job, develop their IT skills and enhance their career prospects. ECDL will enable people to demonstrate their competence in computer skills. It covers the key concepts of computing and its major applications and their use in the workplace and society. This Level 2 modular programme includes: • Word Processing • Spreadsheets • Presentations • Improving Productivity Using IT

Skills for Life through Creative Computing

This FREE course is specially developed to cater for those with some experience of Internet and word processing but would like to take these skills further. This course enables people to make the best use of their creative abilities using Microsoft Word, Publisher and PowerPoint. It is aimed at everyone regardless of status, education,ability or understanding. Students will need to be 19 years or over to qualify for funding on this course and must not already hold a current C&G Literacy Level 2 qualification.

Skills for Life through ICT

This FREE course is specially developed to cater for those with little or no experience of computers, Internet and email. It is aimed at complete beginners and is open to everyone regardless of status, education or understanding. Students must be 19 or over on 31/08/11 to be eligible for funding on this course and must not already hold a current C&G Level 1 Literacy qualification.
