About Quality Education for Drivers
Quality Education for Drivers (QED) was formed as a partnership between J.A. Peacock and Rob Sweeting in 2003.
Mr Sweeting was a local government Road Safety Officer who specialised in driver training and in vehicle safety. He was responsible for planning and introducing many new initiatives, aimed at reducing casualties by improving the individuals driving standard.
He also was responsible for training and monitoring the instructors who provided these services, and developed a great respect for these dedicated trainers for whom improving driver standards is so important. Many of these trainers are ex police officers who have seen at first hand the tragic consequences of poor driving.
J.A. Peacock is a very highly experienced educationalist who, over 25 years, has developed an insight into the psychology of learning. She has also controlled up to two hundred staff and is the organisation behind the company
Course development is very carefully considered to make sure that the courses benefit from all the latest research so that it is as effective as possible.
The range of courses is vast, covering everything from learners, who have never sat in the driving seat, to advanced heavy goods training, for drivers who have many years of experience. We cater for drivers with disabilities again to all levels of driving.
Much of QED’s work is aimed at companies and councils. We assist companies, to comply with the Health and Safety guidance that applies to driving at work, reduce collisions, damage claims and insurance premiums. We are also pleased to have started SAFED training on behalf of the Department for Transport which will reduce fuel consumption and benefit the environment, but most importantly will reduce collisions. We also provide trainers to a national company for LGV driver assessment.
QED provides training for Suffolk County Council and Hertfordshire County Council on the National Driver Improvement Scheme courses that are run on behalf of the constabularies. These courses are an option for drivers who have committed due care and attention offences and are a positive alternative to court attendance.
QED also provides training for Essex County Council, Hertfordshire County Council and Suffolk County Council on the National Speed Awareness courses. These are similar to the National Driver Improvement Course and are a positive alternative to speeding fines and points on the drivers licence.
Mr. Sweeting is also a Banstead registered trainer and we are able to provide training for people with disabilities and learning difficulties. Much of our work is towards drivers who are having difficulties with their driving because of a long absence or a collision that has damaged their confidence.
QED can call on the services of 40 highly qualified and experienced driver trainers. All of these trainers are qualified in advanced driver training through the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) and/or are on the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) fleet trainer register.
