At the Professional Training Centre (PTC) It is our mission to work in partnership with individuals and the business community to provide high quality, flexible and innovative training solutions that can be delivered regionally and nationally.
The Professional Training Centre (PTC) is the commercial arm of Colchester Institute providing training for the business community. We have a range of short courses which are delivered at the PTC, or alternatively we can offer them at a time and place to suit your company’s needs.

Abrasive Wheels - Appointed Persons A requirement of proprietors is to ensure that one or more people are identified within each establishment to receive proper instruction on all aspects of safety in relation to Abrasive Wheels. This will include the mounting, dressing and adjustment of abrasive wheels which will enable these persons to be able to perform the necessary duties within a workshop. |

Awareness of Noise and Damage to Hearing Over 14 years ago legislation made it compulsory to control noise hazards in the workplace. Still today, people remain uncertain about the damage to hearing caused by excessive exposure to noise. The new Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005 place increased emphasis on the need for proper training and instruction of employees. This seminar is designed to fully meet Regulation 10 (information, instruction and training) by highlighting the dangers posed by excessive noise levels and demonstrates how to take effective measures to reduce risks. |

The Energy Efficiency for Domestic Heating qualification has been developed to prepare heating installers for the change in the Building Regulations and to encourage them to have a positive attitude to high efficiency products based on sound knowledge and product confidence. BPEC Electrical Competence Scheme (ECS) Level B This course is a practical based programme offering training and assessment for compliance with Part P of the Building Regulations. Part P divides companies ('enterprises') into two different classifications depending on the scope of work activities they undertake: • Level A: can complete all electrical work in domestic premises (usually electrical contractors) • Level B: can install new circuits |
