Category A Amateur Rider Permit Category A Permit holders may ride in Flat, Hurdle and Steeplechase Races, confined to Amateur Riders. The applicant must attend a one-day training seminar and an assessment day. |

Category B Amateur Rider Permit Category B Permit holders may ride in Flat Races confined to Amateur Riders, Steeplechase or Hurdle Races, except those confined to Licensed Conditional Jockeys, and in all National Hunt Flat Races. |

Enter the Foundation Degree in the Horseracing Industry - a programme that is predominantly delivered by distance learning so anyone who joins the course continue their career development without even leaving the yard! |

The course focuses on staffing issues such as, Communications, Handling Conflict, Employment Law, Motivation, Team Building and different styles of leadership. |

By the end of the course a candidate should be able to: - Understand the risks associated with handling horses, especially those that are excited or stressed. - Have a basic understanding of horse behaviour - Demonstrate practical skills in horse handling, such as replacing a bridle, putting on a head collar, creating a makeshift halter, holding and leading a horse. |

Level 3 Award in the principles of transporting horses by road on a long journey For a journey over 8 hours which involves a vehicle carrying horses in connection with an economic activity (i.e. a business), the driver must hold a Level 3 Award in the principles of transporting horses on long journeys Certificate of Competence as a Driver only or Attendant & Driver. A person with Driver only certification MUST be accompanied by a person with Attendant certification (or Attendant & Driver). Therefore, two scenarios can exist. |
