Be Your Own Plumber! - Futures - Short Course

If you want to learn how to repair or replace sanitaryware in your bathroom or undertake a simple plumbing project then this is the course for you. You will learn how to join and install simple pipework systems in copper and plastic and how to fit domestic sanitaryware. The course is mainly practical and you will undertake a number of practical exercises in the workshop. There will also be an introduction to the Building Regulations that apply to plumbing. For health and safety reasons you will need to provide and wear steel toe-capped footwear and overalls. (24 hour course delivered over 8 weeks)

You will also be provided with full PPE for the construction activities carried out during training and assistance with applications for Health & Safety Tests and CSCS cards.

DIY for all - Plumbing skills

In this 3 week course students will learn the basics of home plumbing. Starting with an introduction on how water comes into the property from the outside mains and where it goes into the house, students will discover the importance of knowing where the stopcock is and how to turn the water on and off safely. Following on from that, topics will include: what to do if a leak occurs; pressure falls; what to do if air is prevalent in the heating system; how to check the pressure in a modern heating boiler; changing a washer; checking a faulty ballcock. Students will learn about soldered, compression and push fit joints and how to fit them

OSAT - On Site Assessment & Training NVQ Level 2

But often these workers don’t have the qualifications to get the CSCS Card they’ll need to gain access to site contracts and when the workforce is spending most of the time on site, ensuring employees are qualified can be difficult. That’s why OSAT (On Site Assessment and Training) has been created. It provides your workforce with a formal NVQ qualification, leading to vital CSCS Card accreditation quickly and easily whilst they are working on site.

OSAT - On Site Assessment & Training NVQ Level 3 - Site Supervision

OSAT is a fast tracked route to an NVQ. Funding is available for those who meet the eligibility criteria. An assessor visits your staff on-site and identifies the skills they already have. The assessor develops an action plan to fill any gaps. Typically, the whole process takes approximately 3 - 6 months, depending on how experienced the worker may be.
