10 Week Basic Carpentry/Joinery

On this 10 week basic course you will learn skills to be able to carry out basic maintenance tasks in the home. You will receive a certificate of Achievement and expert tuition.

1. Practical Boatbuilding (Full Time)

All students begin in the Joinery workshop where they will learn fundamental woodworking skills. After approximately 12 weeks students move on to the boat shed where they will work in a real boatyard environment. Students will learn to interpret the designers' drawings, loft the boat and make moulds, construct and set up a backbone, steam timber and make frames, plank up in carvel and clinker, lay decks, make spars and fit out the hull. In short a student at the end of the course should be able to build a boat. Successful Completions of this course results in a City & Guilds 2463-03 (formerly 2451) Boatbuilding Maintenance and Support, Level 3. Qualification

Be Your Own Carpenter! - Futures - Short Course

This course is ideal for the beginner to DIY. Each week you will undertake a different practical DIY task and master the use of basic woodwork and electric tools. Learn how to fix shelves to a variety of backgrounds, fit and replace door furniture, construct timber partition walls, replace skirting and architrave using the correct joints and suitable fixings. For health and safety reasons you will need to provide and wear steel toe-capped footwear. (24 hour course delivered over 8 weeks)

Carpentry NVQ Level 2

The course is suitable for anyone wishing to gain a recognised basic carpentry qualification and will provide you with an introduction to the practical and theoretical skills of carpentry. You will also need an employer who is prepared to employ you full time and who can provide you with the opportunity to undertake a wide range of carpentry tasks on site. The course is approximately 50% practical and 50% theory. This NVQ2 course involves the planning and interpreting of written and oral information. Site practice includes flooring, roofing, partitions, fixing doors and window frames. You will be working on-site towards an NVQ Level 2 qualification and a college based ICA which will cover Health and Safety as well as key skills in communication, application of number and information technology. Bench joinery is a possible option in this qualification.

City & Guilds 6217 Basic Construction Skills

OSAT - On Site Assessment & Training NVQ Level 2

That’s why OSAT (On Site Assessment and Training) has been created. It provides your workforce with a formal NVQ qualification, leading to vital CSCS Card accreditation quickly and easily whilst they are working on site.

OSAT - On Site Assessment & Training NVQ Level 3 - Site Supervision

OSAT is a fast tracked route to an NVQ. Funding is available for those who meet the eligibility criteria. An assessor visits your staff on-site and identifies the skills they already have. The assessor develops an action plan to fill any gaps. Typically, the whole process takes approximately 3 - 6 months, depending on how experienced the worker may be.
