Content
The course is designed for study by distance learning at work or at home. Students receive course manual, assignments and study guide plus tutor support by mail and email.

The Course Covers the Following 6 Units:-

Unit One –The Essentials of Communication
The following topics are covered: The Importance of Good Communication; Modes of Communication; The Key Elements of Communication; The Whole Message; and What Does the Recipient Expect?

Unit Two - Sending Informal Messages
The following topics are covered: Memoranda ('Memos'); Electronic Mail (Email); Text Messages; and Facsimiles or 'Faxes'.

Unit Three – Sending Formal Messages
The following topics are covered: Letters – The First Impression; Letters – Greetings and Sign-Off; The Details; Letters – Writing Clearly; Letters – Writing Accurately; Formal Emails; Reports and Proposals; Reviewing Formal Letters and Reports; and Reports.

Unit Four – Two Way Communication
The following topics are covered: The Telephone; Using the Answer Phone; Using the Mobile Phone; and Face-to-Face Meetings

Unit Five – Presentations
The following topics are covered: Presentation Skills; First Impressions; Explaining Your Points Clearly; Humour; Inviting Discussion; and Ending the Presentation.

Unit Six – Advertising
The following topics are covered: Press Releases; Newspaper Advertisements; and Web Sites.

Each unit is followed by a written assignment, which is submitted and then marked by your tutor. There are no external examinations required
