About the Course

Target
The Award is an entry point and introduction for those new to teaching and training or those wishing to teach or train in the Lifelong Learning Sector.

•Anyone with an interest in teaching or wishing to develop their teaching skills.
•Employees who teach as a part of their normal duties but who do not have the
required teaching qualification.
Entry requirements
The course is delivered and assessed at Level 3 so you must be able to demonstrate literacy (English) skills at level 2 or equivalent.

Access to a computer to complete assignments is useful but not essential at this level

*Definitions of Associate Teacher and Full Teacher roles in relation to the Lifelong Learning Sector in England are available from the FAQs section on the City & Guilds QTLS microsite, www.cityandguilds.com/qtls, or from www.lluk.org.uk
Outcome
During your programme of study you will:
• learn about the professional role and responsibilities of the teacher/trainer
• gain an introduction to the principles of learning, teaching, assessment and evaluation
• develop knowledge and understanding of session planning, and plan your own
session(s)
• produce a scheme(s) of work
• practice delivery of a teaching session through small scale micro teach
session(s).
The 7303 Award is very hands-on, and will not only introduce the basic theory behind teaching, but also develop your core presentation and practical skills, building your confidence in delivering learning to small and large groups of learners
Qualifications
Preparing to Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector
Content
Due to the Government regulations, we expect staff who undertake a teaching role, however small that part of the job is, to take Ptlls as a minimum qualification to teach. It is vital that you are properly equipped to do the work you are asked to do and this is one way to achieve success.

The City and Guilds Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector qualification aims to provide you with a sound introduction to the concepts of a systematic approach to teaching and training skills. You should attend the full programme if possible; exceptions should be discussed with the tutor or programme leader before the start of the course.

The course is participative and you will be expected to share your own teaching and work experiences to help you to contextualise your learning. You will be supported in creating a portfolio of assessments including the practical assessment. There is a requirement to do some work at home – the amount of time you will need will depend on the programme and your learning needs.

We will make every effort to provide specific support or equipment to meet individual learning needs. We encourage anyone thinking of joining a course to let us know if support may be needed. Some of the support we provide includes worksheets produced in large text, hearing loops, extra time during an exam, one-to-one help during the course, childcare facilities and adaptive equipment

feedback
Previous learners have been extremely successful, our success rate for learners completing the course is 98%. Of all learners starting the course, 94% complete so our drop out rate is minimal.
