- This training is a legal requirement. The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) require employers to provide adequate training and to ensure that chainsaws and related equipment are operated only by employees who have received appropriate training in their safe use.

- Target
- Anyone working in or on trees is expected to hold a recognised certificate of competence. If you are self-employed, the regulations still apply

CS30 (Chainsaw Maintenance and Crosscutting) is a pre-requisite for this course
Equipment Needed
Course members will need to provide their own PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), which must carry current CE markings, a personal first-aid kit and pea-less whistle. You must be fit to undertake this training and ideally be 18 years of age or over - Outcome
- All training days prepare the course member to meet the required NPTC (National Proficiency Tests Council) assessment. The assessment day will take place by mutual arrangement after the training days are completed

- For persons wishing to work in amenity or arboricultural activities, or on Forestry Commission Land, which will involve felling small trees safely and accurately, removing branches, cross-cutting stems, stacking timber and taking down hung-up trees with hand tools.
