- The Nebosh National Certificate in Construction is established as a leading health and safety award for the construction industry. The course is designed to cover general health and safety issues within a construction context as well as placing emphasis on the specific construction issues that make the industry amongst the most dangerous in which to work.
About the Course
- Target
- This course is aimed at Supervisors, Managers and CDM Co-ordinators within the construction industry who are required to ensure that activities under their control are undertaken safely. The qualification is also appropriate for supervisors and managers working in other industries such as utilities where temporary workplaces are a feature of their activities.
- Entry requirements
- No previous health and safety knowledge is required, but delegates should note the assessment includes a requirement to write a short report.
- Outcome
- Upon completion the candidate will have a sound understanding of the principles of risk management which will enable them to help build an effective safety culture within their employment.
The course can be used as a fundamental part of the candidate's development programme. - Qualifications
- The qualification is referenced within the Approved Code of Practice (ACOP) for CDM Regulations 2007 as a key knowledge indicator when assesing satge 1 competence for CDM Co-ordinators.
- Content
- The course covers the main legal requirements for health and safety in the UK construction work, identification and control of construction workplace hazards, and the practical application of this knowledge.
It is divided into three units each of which is assessed separately:
NGC1: Management of Health and Safety
NCC1: Managing and Controlling Hazards in Construction Activities
NCC2: Health and Safety Practical Application
Examinations for both NGC1 and NCC1 are two hour written exams. NCC2 is a practical assessment which consists of carrying out a site safety inspection, identifying hazards, recommending control measures and preparing a brief management report. - Cost
