About the Course

Target
This programme is for you if you have no real experience in using PowerPoint and want to learn the fundamentals of this sophisticated presentation software package.
Entry requirements
No previous experience in using PowerPoint or any other presentation graphics package is required in this introductory programme. It is assumed, however, that you have:
• Experience in working within the Windows environment
• A reasonable degree of keyboard and mouse proficiency

• Navigate around the PowerPoint ribbons or toolbars
• Open, create and save a new presentation
• Apply a design template to a presentation
• Print slides, handouts and notes pages
• Create and run a slide show
• Use the Microsoft clip organiser and object linking and embedding capabilities of PowerPoint
• Use Microsoft graphs and charts

Working with PowerPoint ribbons and/or toolbars
• What is PowerPoint? Starting PowerPoint
• The PowerPoint application window, ribbons and toolbars

Creating text slides
• Creating, saving and closing a new presentation
• Adding a new slide to a presentation
• Editing the text on a slide
• Working in the slides tab and the outline tab
• Resetting the line spacing of paragraphs on a slide

Using the drawing toolbar
• Reopening a presentation; moving a placeholder
• Adding an autoshape and adding text to an autoshape

Creating a PowerPoint table
• Adding and formatting a PowerPoint table

Using the Microsoft clip organiser
• Inserting a clipart image into a slide

Using design templates
• Applying and modifying a design template to a presentation
