Summary
This is a practical, work-related course that is valued by employers. Students learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. As well as learning about your chosen employment area, you develop the skills you need that lead to many career opportunities in business. It is equivalent to 3 'A' levels which means when you have finished the course you can choose employment straight away or go into Higher Education. A BTEC National Diploma can be taken full-time and is equally suitable for school leavers and mature students.

Target
Entry requirements
At least one of the following: A BTEC First Diploma in a related subject - Merit Grade. An intermediate GNVQ in a related subject. At least 5 GCSE's at grades A* - C to include English and Maths. Consideration will be given to mature students who have relevant work experience.
Outcome
FdA Business Management or Business Management Degree or possible progression into other Higher Education Institutions. Employment or an Apprenticeship in a business related occupation.

Content
This course is made up of 18 units, 4 core and 14 specialist units. Specialist units are designed to enable students to study particular areas of business in depth and allow opportunities to follow particular areas of interest. Core Units: Exploring Business Activity, Investigating Business Resources, Introduction to Marketing and Effective People, Communication and Information. Specialist Units that may be covered: Introduction to Accounting, Creative Product Promotion, Investigating Internet Marketing, Career Development Planning in Business, Understanding Aspects of the Legal System and Law Making Process, Exploring Business and Economic Environments, Managing a Business Event, Exploring Team Development, Aspects of Civil Liability for Business, Website Design Strategies, Managing Business Information, Supply Chain Management, Understanding Business Ethics and Understanding Retail.
