About the Course
- Target
- Entry requirements
- Most of our A Levels have special entry requirements. Please see individual subject information for details. In general we will admit students for A Level who have a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade C and above. These would ideally include English and Maths.
- Outcome
- At the end of the course, you should be able not only to produce final accounts, but also to interpret a wide variety of financial documents. ‘A’ level Accounting provides the perfect theoretical background for someone planning a career in accountancy.
- Content
- Each lesson begins with a set of clearly stated objectives and an explanation of its place in the overall programme of study. Effective learning is encouraged through frequent activities and self-assessment questions. There are thirteen tutor-marked assignments (known as TMAs).
The Syllabus:
This course prepares candidates for the AQA Accounting AS level syllabus 5121, for examinations in 2008 and later years. Most candidates will then study the A2 syllabus 6121. The full Advanced Level qualification comprises AS and A2. We have chosen this syllabus as it is the most suited for distance learning.
You can find out more information on this syllabus on AQA’s website - AQA – www.aqa.org.uk
The course offers a choice for the first unit so altogether there are seven modules to cover the six exam units, with the following titles:
AS- The accounting informational system or introduction to published accounts
- Financial accounting
- Introduction to management accounting
A2- Further aspects of financial accounting
- Published accounts of limited companies

It is possible to sit the full A Level in a one year period but it is recommended that you do it over two years. You can purchase the full A Level or we do offer the AS or A2 Level syllabus’s as individual courses.
