- The combination of learning in both the classroom and the work place is designed to ensure that the acquisition and application of management skills is at the centre of this course. Lecturers are committed to supporting students through a varied programme of learning activities. Students are also helped in the development of skills identified as essential for success in the modern business environment. Students have a choice of attendance patterns depending on their work commitments
About the Course
- Target
- The course is aimed at aspiring managers currently employed in both the private and public sector. The course develops the generic skills and knowledge required for management whist providing a qualification from which to progress to a wide variety of academic and professional qualifications
- Entry requirements
- 200 UCAS tariff points (or equivalent)
Applications are welcome from all who can benefit from and successfully complete the course. - Outcome
- This course helps individuals working in the business sector to gain promotion and become confident with the decisions they make in the work place.
Following successful comletions of this course,students interested in progressing their studies further can enter the final year of the BA (Hons) Business Management at UCS.. A wide range of further professional and management qualifications can also be pursued. - Qualifications

- Course structure
Modules are structured to have a large element of student centred learning, allowing students the opportunity to relate their experience to the subject matter.
Modules studied include: Principles of Management, Personal Development, Marketing, Human Resources, Finance, Business Environment, Economic Environment, Business Law, Research Methods, and International Business.
Work placements
Part-time students are likely to be employed in an appropriate business sector. Full-time students are expected to find a suitable work placement, and assistance is available for this.
Assessment
This course integrates classroom and work-based learning. Assessments rely heavily on the application of understanding and skills in a work context. Examinations are not normally used - Cost
