Following completion of this course we can offer an assessment through the National Proficiency Test Council "Certificate of Competence to Climb Trees and Perform Aerial Rescue" (previously known as CS38). - Content
- Learning outcomes/objectives
- Aware of legislation and safety guidelines for tree climbing.
- Recognise differences between work positioning and fall arrest systems.
- Understand Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements for above use, and carry out pre-use checks to PPE, comply with the requirements for it"s inspection, record keeping storage and transport.
- Undertake Risk Assessment of tree climbing operations.
- Select, inspect and use range of tree climbing equipment.
- Safely climb a tree, move around the crown and descend to the ground.
- Carry out aerial rescue from different situations in a safe manner.
- Able to use hand tools in safe and efficient manner to move lightweight branches.
Equipment required (Candidate)- Safety helmet, incorporating ear defenders and eye protection and chin strap.
- Suitable work wear
- Personal First Aid kit.
- Full set of climbing equipment:
- Harness
- Minimum of 4 karabiners
- Strop
- Prusik loops or other friction knot devices - Aware of legislation and safety guidelines for tree climbing.
