- Core Elements
The NVQ consists of five mandatory units and three optional units:
MANDATORY
Unit 201 Carry out your responsibilities at work; Unit 202 Work within your business environment
TYPICAL OPTIONS (choose three - there are 24 in total to pick from)
Unit 110 Ensure your own actions reduce risks to health and safety;Unit 203 Manage customer relations;Unit 206 Deal with visitors;Unit 209 Store, retrieve and archive information;Unit 212 Use IT systems (IT User);Unit 214 Use word processing software (IT User);Unit 219 Use a telephone system;Unit 225 Work effectively with other people.
Key Skills
These are essential and everyday skills including Communication, Numeracy (known as Application of Number), Information Technology, Working with Others, Improving Learning Performance, Problem Solving etc. The Administration Apprenticeship requires Communication Level 2 and Application of Number Level 1.
Technical Certificate
Technical Certificates ensure that you have the requisite knowledge and understanding of the theory behind the subject you are studying. The Awarding Bodies could be EDI or OCR. To achieve the Certificate in Administration you must typically take two short assessments, one covering Administration in Organisations and one covering Personal and Interpersonal Skills. You will need to pass both - Cost
- As this is a centrally funded initiative, most of the cost is borne by the government
