Target: This part time course is for students who wish to take a degree in social science.
Entry requirements: The course is aimed at students aged 19 or over, who have few or no formal academic qualifications, but who will approach their studies with enthusiasm, determination and discipline.
Outcome: An Access Certificate validated by CAVA fulfils the basic entry requirement for Higher Education and will enable you to apply for a wide range of Social Science degree courses such as Media Studies, Politics, Psychology, Sociology and Social Work.
Qualifications: Access to Social Science
Content: All students study aspects of Economics, Media Studies, Politics, Psychology, Social Science Research Methods and Sociology. The course makes use of specially designed Open University Access Units which enable students to study extensively on their own in order to reach the appropriate standard for entry to University. There is an emphasis on discussion and debate, and guidance with study skills is provided throughout the course.
