About the Course
- Target
- Trainees that have no previous experience of operating fork lift trucks and are over the age of 17 with a reasonable degree of fitness.

- Company certificate of Training and Operators Authorisation on successful completion of the course.
- Content
- Theory: * Operators Safety Code * Correct Operating Procedures * Stability of Trucks and their lifting limits. Practical: * Introduction to the fork lift truck - identification of parts, location and function of controls and instruments. * Elementary vehicle operation including starting, moving, steering and stopping. * Explantion of the hydraulic system. * Weight assessment * Handling loaded and unloaded pallets. * Stacking and de-stacking in ailes and racking. * Driving on/off ramps * Loading/ unloading flat-bed or lorry trailer. * Daily inspection of fork lift truck and action to be taken if faulty * Fork lift stability * Operators safety code * Practical and theory tests. Trainees will clearly understand the causes of instability of truck and truck loads and be able to carry out a routine daily or pre-shift inspection of the truck. This course will also provide underpinning knowledge for an NVQ.
