Entry requirements
Either a range of passes at GCSE level which include English and Mathematics to D/E level or an equivalent qualification. You also need to have an interest in, and aptitude for computing.
Outcome
Successful students are qualified to seek employment in either computer operations, or in computer sales and support. Alternatively you may wish to continue by progressing on to the National Diploma in IT Practitioners

Content
This is a one year full time course, which includes a range of Information Technology applications and programming as well as the business context in which they are used, and wider business issues. You will become familiar with commercial software, computer systems and networking. You will gain sound basic knowledge of computing. This is a highly practical course which includes a wide range of computing related activities such as system installation, programming, multimedia and networking. Students will be expected to spend a large proportion of time working with systems and equipment. As part of the course, personal skills such as communicating, working in teams, orgainsation and problem solving are developed and applied to assignment work. Commercial standard hardware and software is used.
